Glimpsing the Soul via the Eye
Eyes are the most common tools used to view the world and beyond. Have you ever heard someone say, “The eyes are the windows of the soul”? This phrase typically is used when a person’s eyes display emotion. However, the definition of the phrase has expanded, over the years.
Iris Types
From an early age, you may have noticed that most people are born with unique irises (the colored parts that surround the center pupils of their eyes). In addition to individualized color patterns, each person has their own iris type, which may have colored dots (called “jewels”), thin lines (called “streams”), or openings (called “flowers”). Iris patterns reveal your personality traits, gifts, purpose, and what might happen when you are not being authentic.1
Eye Reading
Denny Ray Johnson developed a method of iris interpretation that mentions iris patterns and markings that correspond to emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual characteristics.2 The Rayid Method of Iris Interpretation outlines different types of eye patterns and personalities and describes the iris as a personality indicator.3 Based on decades of application and qualitative research, the Rayid Method describes two dominant iris patterns (Jewel and Flower) and two secondary iris patterns (Stream and Shaker), which correlate to a person’s character traits.4
A trained analyst can look into your irises and actually describe your personality, genetic gifts, skills, and talents, with accuracy. In addition, an Eye Reading could give you details on your feelings toward each of your parents, as well as the type of mate who tends to be drawn to you. Iris Types Connected to Traits
Orebro University scientists looked into the eyes in close-up photos of 428 study participants, surveyed them, and found strong correlations between iris pattern markings and deep-rooted personality traits. The iris patterns seemed to reveal whether a person tends to be warm, sympathetic, and trusting or tends to be neurotic and impulsive.6

Both eye structure and personality traits may be due to gene sequences that develop iris structure plus play a part in developing the front (personality area) of the brain. Mutation of the PAX6 gene (regulator of early eye development) may cause impulsiveness, poor social skills, and weak communication skills.7 Melanin is a pigment that determines iris darkness8
and insulates electrical connections between brain cells. When the brain has more melanin, it can work faster and more efficiently.9
Pittsburgh University researchers found that less childbirth pain was felt by lighter-eyed women than darker-eyed women. A survey of 12,000+ people found that lighter-eyed people consumed more alcohol than darker-eyed people,10 who need less alcohol to become intoxicated.
